OOTD - LOTR Skirt

Helloes!

Here is my OOTD to show off my pretty new skirt. This was actually a birthday gift from my BF, but since it was custom made it took almost a month to arrive ^^'
We ordered it from this super cool store from etsy, RoobyLane, she makes the cutest nerdy skirts, everything from LOTR, Batman, Star Wars, Star Treck, the Avengers, etc, etc. Me being the LOTR lover that I am, I fell in love with this skirt the second I saw it. The original skirt was black and glod, but since you can make the changes you want (since it's custom made), I asked for a purple/black version! ^^ It has the inscriptions of the One ring in the bottom half and it ties up with a pretty purple satin ribbon at the waist. It's just preecioooous!

Buh bey bangs!

I wore bangs for the past.. I'll say 3 to 4 years, I love the "cute" look they provide, but it was time for a change. I'm starting the process of "let your bangs grow!", which, if you ever had to let your bangs grow, you know it's a super boring process, you want to see new results NOW! And hair is always getting in your eyes.. eerg, how annoying :<. It will pay off tho', can't wait for them to be long enough so I can shave the side of my head and make a lovely sidehawk.. ooh how I miss having one. Meanwhile, bobby pins will do the trick!

Oddities Collection!

Wow, a month without making any kind of post :x Damn I've been busy and I apologize! ^_^' When you are a freelance worker there are times that you have pretty much nothing to do and then times like this, I have so many stuff I can barely scratch myself.

Anyway! I wanted to make a post about Oddities and some pics of my (still small) collection. People get pretty curious about this subject, some just get freaked out, but I get a bunch of questions and sometimes stupid remarks, so I'll try to make this post the most insightful I can.

So, first of all, what the heck are oddities?
An odditie collection is a collection of the bizarre, odd, weird stuff, this can be pretty generic I know, but mostly it's a bundle of vintage creepy objects, bones, preserved dead 'things', it can be animals or human parts, x-rays, medical and scientific trinkets in general, anything for the oddly curious :)
I think that odditie collectors just love anything with history, something that you can look upon and wonder everything that happened to that specific item until you got a hold of it.

(Jaws and spine bones of a dog)

"You're a sycho, why would you want to collect dead animals?"
Many people will say or think this of you, basically because they think that anything dead is disgusting or scary, I have a different perspective obviously. I don't think that because a living being died, it suddently gets disgusting, ugly and valueless. Death is just a part of our existence ( if you believe it to go on or not.. well that's another topic). I love animals and by collecting their bones or their preserved bodies I feel a connection to the little creatures, I find them beautifull and intriguing, I feel like I'm taking care of them now that they're at another "stage" of their existence. I have nothing but respect for them. Which brings me to another statment that people usually make which is - "You have no respect for animals." Obviously we have different perspectives. Most of the people I know throw their pets in the trash when they pass away, that for me is disrespectful, for some it isn't, so let´s just agree to disagree.

(Full skeleton of a dog, minus the skull, and huge unknown bone)

How can I start my collection?
The fastest and easiest way to get what you want is buying it. There are innumerous oddities stores in the US, but if you live somewhere else, like me, you're screwed. I really don't know any stores in Europe (if you do please share with me :P) and you can't buy online from the US because by law they can't ship any wildlife items (including preserved animals of any kind and bones) altough I've seen some sellers on eBay selling bones worldwide, but I haven't ordered from there yet, so I'm not sure how that works.
Here are some links if you are a lucky bastard and are able to order anything from them:

For those who can't order, or just prefer to get the items yourself instead of buying them (I must say, although harder, it is much more gratifying), you just need to get out in the 'wild' and look for them :)
I think I haven't mentioned this before, because I thought it was obvious, but anyway: DON'T KILL ANY ANIMALS FOR YOUR COLLECTION, everything collected must be done so because the animal is already dead, by natural causes or any way that you couldn't intervene in any way to help the animal or avoid his death. If you decide to buy something ASK the seller first what happened to the animal, how did he die, etc make sure you are NOT contributing to animal cruelty in any way.
Now that we got that out of the way, schedule an afternoon walk with a couple of friends for some "treasure" hunting! The more the merrier, since you have extra eyes to search for what sometimes can be really small stuff. If your friends don't wanna help you in your "treasure hunt" I'm sorry to say you don't have cool friends like mine, ah! :D
Search for green zones in your area, or anywhere you think there's a greater change to encounter wildlife. Don't forget to bring gloves with you! Dead animals are full of diseases, don't touch them bare-handed!

In my last search I found a skeleton of a dog, a huge rat and what I believe to be cat bones. I also found a fossil of a shell and a huge bone that I have no idea where it comes from.

(Bones from what I believe to be a huge rat or a small cat or most likely a mix of both, since I found a tiny paw, pic below, but also a big claw at the same place.)

This is starting to get  a pretty big post, so I'm just gonna leave you with some helpful links and if you have any more questions just ask! :)

Kryolan Aquacolor - 5 different ways to use it!

Helloes ^^

As promised before, here's the Kryolan Aquacolor cream 'pot' post! I'll have to call it 'pot' because honestly I can't say it's a cream eyeshadow or eyeliner or whatever, because it can be pretty much anything you want!
I'll use my aquacolor R27, which is a pretty purple, as an example to show you how versatile this product can be. I also have a black one, a white, a red and a frankenstein green and I'm pretty happy with all of them. I bought them for around 6€ each, which is pretty reasonable considering how big and functional they are. You can also mix this with water to get a more intense color with a slightly different shade.

I use the purple one everyday to draw my eyebrows and it still looks full, so I'm pretty sure this product will last me for a loooong time.

Note: I didn't use any kind of foundation or primer for this pics. The product was directly applied on my skin.

1. Lips

Because you can get different shades depedning on the amount of water you mix with your Aquacolor, you can get multiple results on your lips. I will warn you tho', your lips can get pretty dry, specially if you apply a thick coat with water, so I recommend you use some lip balm first and then apply the aquacolor (or you can try and mix both!)

2. Eyebrows

As I said previously I use this color everyday for my eyebrows ^^ There are some ocasions that I may draw them in black, but mostly I think this purple shade is a perfect combination with my hair :)
It might seem a bit too ligh or too pinkish sometimes, so to set it (less likely to smudge) and to make the color a little deeper, I put a bit of  (a darker) purple eyeshadow on top of it.

3. Eyeliner

I don't use this method quite as often, since I like to wear mostly black eyeliner, but it's an awesome alternative to colorful cream eyeliners. Apply it with a wet brush, but not as much as you would for your lips, you still want it to have a pretty thick consistency.

4. Eyeshadow

This method doesn't work that well by itself, at least with this shade of purple, and the reason for that is: you're gonna look like you got punched in the eye :D It really has that bruise tone, and although I think it's a pretty neet effect - and I use this often for special effects make-up - for your daily basis is not the best look, so what you can do is using it as an eyeshadow base. If you want some purple eyeshadow to really pop, just use the R27 underneath.
In the pics I used the R27 only, no eyeshadow. It looks darker in the corner because I applied it with a wet brush, and it looks pinkish in the areas I applied (and smudged) with my finger.

5. Blush/Conturing

And finally! You can use this as a blush and conturing so it kinda counts as 2 :)
You really only need a tiny amount of product for the full drama effect. Use it dry obviously, unless you are going for a face paint makeup

And that's it! That was a long post :D Hope you find it helpful! ^^

Forest spirit/Faun costume - It's Carnival! :D

Carnival is a celebration that originated in Greece between 600-520 BC. In this celebration the Greeks worshiped their gods and thanked them for soil fertility and production. It became a celebration adopted by the Catholic Church in 590 AD. It occurs immediately before Lent and that period was marked by the period of "farewell to meat" or the Latin "carne vale" originating the term "carnival". During that time there was a large concentration of popular festivities. Each city played in its own way, according to their customs. The modern carnival, parades and costumes are a product of nineteenth-century Victorian society.
Nowadays Carnival has pretty much no connection to religious views and it's just an excuse for people to get drunk and party in costumes like crazy :D

And now that I have bored you with some cultural and historical trivia, here's the costume I wore this year! ^^

I was a Forest spirit! Or some fantasy-like-deer-faun-creature if you will :P The headpiece was self made including the antlers :) They were made with white clay and then painted with acrylics (the structure was made with tin foil). I attached them to a pretty thick head band, to support the weight (they weren't super heavy, but weren't that light either) and then added some artificial flowers ^^
To complete the costume I wore a big faux fur stole. The makeup unfortunatly had to be done in a hurry, I had very little time to do it so it looks a little bit rushed, but I was happy with it either way ^^

This is the only decent pic I have of the complete look :( I should have taken pics BEFORE going out, but I didn't. So by the end of the night with all the dancing and drinking my headpiece had taken a real beating -I lost half of the flowers, my antlers were all crooked and my makeup already smudging ^^'

Was able to take a decent pic of my makeup ^^

And a shot of my headband (without the flowers). Unbelivably the flowers were by far the most expensive element of my costume :X

Fun, fun night!

MUOTD 6 - Starry night Makeup

Went to the club last Friday and this was the sparkly look I wore ^^ I used only one item for pretty much the whole look, my Kryolan purple cream pot which I'm completely in love with. Kryolan is one of my fav make-up brands, it has super affordable products, CRUELTY FREE, and they are super multi-functional! I can use the same cream pot as an eyeliner, eyeshadow, blush, lipstick and even to do my eyebrows! :D And you can mix it with water for an even stronger color and slightly different shade ^^

I'll do another post with the different ways you can use this product, cause it's defenitly worth it ^^

For this look I only had to throw some sparkles on it to "fairy" it up ^^ The gem in my forehead was glued with glitter-glue (not the best one, I admit) I was almost sure I was going to lose it in the club, but I didn't ^^ Well.. it fell once, but I was lucky enough to find it, even if it was pitch-black.

Gift from Delyria and Iva Insane

Uff, It's been a while since my last post, I should get this blog updated at least once a week, but I'm just lazeeh.

Anyway! A couple of weeks ago I was watching some videos by Amelie (a.k.a Delyria, you can see her youtube channel: https://www.youtube.com/user/DelyriaPhoto), she does some beautiful make-up tutorials and some helpful videos with beauty tricks, and she's beautiful to look at also, so I'm a follower :P
She made a video organizing a little contest with Jenni (a.k.a Iva Insane, her blog: http://ivainsane.wordpress.com/), a gorgeous alternative model and hairdresser, you might also know her as Adora Batbrat's sister. So basically, the contest was a combination of this two ladies talents, Iva Insane modeling and Delyria photography (yes, I forgot to mention she's a photographer also). They made a beautiful photo session inspired by clowns, and Delyria was giving away 3 photos in high quality print of the mentioned photography session. You could win the photos by creating a piece of art that was related to clowns, and by a matter of chance I was working on my Le Petit Pierrot drawing at the time, remember? ^^ So I thought to myself "why not?" and sent my drawing to Delyria.
Maybe a week after, she sent me an email telling me that she and Iva Insane loved my work :) They picked me as the winner and she sent me the photos right away, she was super fast and super nice ^^

I got the photos with a little note from Delyria.

The prints have awesome quality, super thick paper with a little shine to it. My favourite is defenitly the one with the "metal clown nose". They are super creepy and adorable, just the way I like it :D
